A.Hair Fall / Baldness Baldness is the state of having no hair or lacking hair where it often grows, especially on the head. The most common form of baldness is androgenic alopecia or "male pattern baldness". This syndrome occurs in adult male (and a few female) humans and other species. The degree and pattern of baldness can vary greatly; it includes male and female pattern alopecia (androgenic alopecia). This syndrome is also called androgenetic alopecia or alopecia androgenetica. An older term is alopecia seborrheica, used primarily in Europe. Pattern balding should not be confused with alopecia areata, which involves patchy hair loss. Extreme forms of alopecia areata are Alopecia totalis, which involves the loss of all head hair, and the most extreme form, alopecia universalis, which involves the loss of all hair from the head and body. Latin: Pityriasis simplex capillitii is the shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp (not to be confused with a dry scalp). Dandruff is sometimes caused by frequent exposure to extreme heat and cold. As it is normal for skin cells to die and flake off, a small amount of flaking is normal and common; about 487,000 cells/cm2 get released normally after detergent treatment. Some people, however, either chronically or as a result of certain triggers, experience an unusually large amount of flaking, up to 800,000/cm2, which can also be accompanied by redness and irritation. Most cases of dandruff can be easily treated with specialized shampoos. B. Alopecia Aereata Alopecia areata is a condition that causes round patches of hair loss, and can lead to total hair loss. The cause of alopecia areata is unknown. About a fifth of people with this condition have a family history of alopecia. Alopecia areata is thought to be an autoimmune condition. This occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys healthy body tissue. Alopecia areata is seen in men, women, and children. A major life event such as an illness, pregnancy, or trauma occurs before the hair loss in some, but not most patients. Forms of alopecia include : 1) Alopecia areata - patches of hair loss, usually on the scalp, but they also can be in the beard or other area 2) Alopecia totalis - complete loss of scalp hair 3) Alopecia universalis - total loss of all body hair 4) Telligent effluvium - diffuse hair loss that results in decreased hair density, but does not Progress to complete baldness. 5) Androgenic alopecia -hair loss occurring in either sex, caused by stimulation of the hair roots By male hormones. 6) Anagen effluvium - diffuse shedding of hairs, includinggrowing hairs, that may progress to Completebaldness. C .Dry flakiness and itchy scalp Although similar to dandruff, dry flakiness is characterized by white, powdery flakes on head and around the nape of the neck. Dry weather affects your scalp .Use amoisturizing product until the flakes disappear or weather changes. TREATMENTS Low level laser hair therapy (LLLT) is a revolutionary, non-surgical breakthrough for both men and women suffering the devastating effects of hair loss. Now it is easier than ever to achieve thicker, fuller, shinier, and healthier looking hair. The low level lasers are “soft” lasers often referred to as “cold” lasers, and do not have the thermal-component to cut, burn or vaporize. Low Level Laser Hair Therapy treatments utilize a device containing therapeutic soft low level light lasers which delivers light energy directly to the scalp. First developed in Europe, it has been used for improving hair volume and hair shaft quality and prolonging the life of hair color and improving hair colors and perms. Laser Hair Therapy Treatments Benefits • Increases the blood supply to the scalp by 54% after only one treatment. • Stimulates hair follicles. • Stops the progression of hair loss in 85% of patients. • Increased hair strength and elasticity. • Fuller, shinier, softer, thicker hair. • For post-operative transplant surgery, such treatments have been shown to help newly transplanted hair to thrive and increase the healing process. • Repairs damage normally caused by chemical services. • Delivers light energy directly from different positions without loss of light properties to insure appropriate dosage.
